Father/Son Overnight – Camp Cedar

Why should your sons have all the fun? Any father who has ever asked himself that question will find that we answer it with our annual Father & Son Overnight. As soon as the busses leave camp, taking most of our boys home at the conclusion of the season, Father & Son Camp participants begin their special camping experience.

With our entire facility and all activities open for enjoyment and a full complement of staff to supervise its use, fathers and sons (and even younger brothers, grandfathers, uncles and friends) can feel free to use camp as they wish. There are planned group activities, such as softball games, tennis tournaments, and campfires as well as time for canoe rides and trips out of camp with your sons.

Some fathers seize this opportunity to show their sons how wisdom and experience more than compensate for a lost step or two on the playing field. Others offer themselves as fine examples in the lost art of relaxation. As for the boys,
they simply relish the opportunity to spend time alone with their dads.

As idyllic as this retreat sounds, it may not be for everyone. Fathers sleep in cabins together with their sons on a shared basis with other families. The sleeping accommodations may be rustic, but they afford a wonderful, natural experience. As for food, there is absolutely nothing rustic about the meals we have planned – an authentic Maine Lobster Bake, a prime rib dinner and full breakfast buffets are traditional favorites. Before dinner each evening we host a cocktail and “coketail” party.

We also recommend our Father & Son Camp as an excellent opportunity for prospective campers and their dads to get a good sense of the Camp Cedar experience. So please dig out your baseball glove, bathing suit, tennis racquet and canteen and spend a great Maine weekend
with your son at Camp Cedar!
