Basketball
The Cedar Rec Hall with its beautiful hard wood floor is the best camp basketball facility around. We have recently added another state of the art indoor gymnasium along with our 3 outdoor courts. Coaching is top notch for players of all levels.

Waterskiing + Wakeboarding
At Cedar, you will find novice skiers, expert wakeboarders and barefoot skiers. Whatever your level, our instructors are there to help you learn and progress. We use American Ski Association awards as the boys progress from the boom to the rope to slalom and to wakeboarding, in addition to awarding our annual "Ken Coles" award to the most dedicated skier in camp.

Baseball
Baseball is a key sport at Cedar and we have two great fields. Our staff consists of high school coaches and top players. We know that kids love to bat, so we have a full batting center at Cedar. We have four batting cages, a soft toss net and a tee station so everyone gets plenty of time to work on their hitting!

Archery
The Cedar archery range is a great place for beginners and JOAD archers alike. We stress safety and technique on the range. Many boys pass awards each summer as they learn the skills needed to become a Cedar Bowman.

Sailing
Our fleet of sailboats provides a great way to get involved in sailing. We have a beautiful, safe lake on which to learn and develop skills. As part of the sailing program, you will learn how to set up a boat, tie sailing knots, right a capsized boat, and sail for enjoyment and competition. Best of all, you will learn how to take a boat out and enjoy yourself on the water!

Football
With two fields, complete with goalposts, flag football is a mainstay at Cedar. Whether you’re looking for a simple game of touch or preparing for High School pigskin, our football program offers a wide array of drills and games to appeal to everyone, taught by former collegiate players and coaches.

Games
Whether it’s Gaga in one of our two courts, Ping Pong at our Pong Plex, or a friendly game of Ring Relivio on our front campus, Cedar offers plenty of fun and games for everyone. We even have a Steal the Bacon Team! Take off your shoes and play hocker, get in a game of 500 or roof ball, whatever you choose, just jump in and have fun!

Hockey
Whether you are just learning to skate or an elite hockey player, Cedar offers plenty of top-notch instruction for all ages and abilities. We play both street and roller hockey, and many boys learn to rollerblade right here at camp! We have two state-of-the-art roller hockey rinks, both specially surfaced with a roller hockey finish, and one complete with lights for night games.

Swim Instruction
Take a quick dip on a hot summer day or swim 20 laps to prepare for the swim team. Float in a big inner tube or jump off the high tower. Learn to dive or improve your breaststroke. All our younger boys receive instructional swim classes through the Red Cross Swim Program. In addition, there is a swim team, a morning dip club, and optional time for a summer plunge!

Weight + Fitness Training
Our older boys and counselors have access to a full weight room. Supervised lifting and conditioning really help prepare the boys to take the next level up towards high school sports or just help them get in great shape.

Biking
Learn to ride on a soft grassy field or take to the expert mountain trails that navigate the miles of forest around camp. You can also try out the BMX bikes on our BMX short course or try your hand at the mountain bike obstacle park. Biking at Cedar is great for all levels.

Woodworking
Woodworking has become a hugely popular activity at Cedar. The boys learn the basic skills of hammering, measuring and cutting and then use their skills to make some amazing projects. The boys make their own ping pong rackets, bird houses, cutting boards and even tables and chairs! The lakeside wood shop is a beautiful spot to develop some life time skills.

Wrestling
Learn high school wrestling and try out some of your best WWF moves. A full-size wrestling mat allows you and your bunkmates to safely learn how to wrestle, develop some great moves and have fun.

Lacrosse
Learn to shoot and score. From novices to our 15-year-old tournament team, Cedar lacrosse has something for everyone. Cedar hosts the area’s biggest lacrosse tournament on its full-size lakeside field. Special clinics are run annually, ranging from Bates Head Coach Pete Lasagna to former Team USA players.

Golf
Golf has taken off and Camp Cedar has led the way in camp golf with its own driving range and short course. The 22 driving stations challenge the big hitter and practice sand bunkers add to the challenge and help develop your short game. After hitting for a while, move on to our own, nine-hole, par-three course. The four bent grass greens provide challenge and the holes, ranging from 40 to 120 yards, are a great skill builder. Out of camp golf trips are taken on a daily basis. Cedar has made a strong commitment to its golf program.

Soccer
Cedar's main soccer field is a lighted NCAA regulation field. A supply of different sized fields and goals and a dynamic teaching program combine to make Cedar soccer great for the beginner or for the travel soccer player. Past special guest stars have included former National team coach Bob Bradley (US), Paul Brown (Jamaica), former US Goalie Jeff Duback and more!

Adventure + Outdoor Education
Cedar was one of the first camps to have a ropes course and climbing program. We are now on to our third climbing wall. In addition, we have an extensive high and low ropes course to teach individual skill and team building. Plus, the 100-yard zip line is just a lot of fun!

Fishing
Our lake is stocked with trout by the State of Maine. Fast bass fishing can be found off the shore and fishing trips are taken off of camp. Many of our boys catch their first fish at Camp Cedar!

Tennis
Cedar tennis is run by teaching professionals with a dedication to youth instruction. With group instruction, ladder play, private lessons, and intercamp team play, there is a wide range of tennis options available to players of all levels. Intensive tennis is available for any interested players.

Garage Band
Come to Garage Band and learn how to play an instrument and even play in a band. We have instruction for beginner and advanced musicians and even get them the opportunity to play in a band and perform at evening activities.

Volleyball
Cedar has two beach courts that are great for volleyball and newcomb. Our younger campers play Newcomb, developing catching and throwing skills while working in a team setting. As the boys get older volleyball is introduced, where they learn to dig, set, serve and slam!

Canoeing + Kayaking
Canoeing and kayaking are part of an on-going rotation of waterfront activities that all campers participate in at Cedar. As Sophomores, days are spent learning the J-stroke and preparing for the annual Sophomore Canoe Trip along the Saco River. As campers grow older, these skills are put to the test, from white-water kayaking at Acadia to rafting on the Kennebec!

Recreation Swimming
In addition to our regularly scheduled instructional swim periods, our waterfront is open twice a day for all campers and counselors to participate in "Free Swim." Whether you're jumping off the high dive or partaking in extra waterski lessons, free swims are a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy the beauty of Coffee Pond.

Creative Arts
Creative Arts is an area of continuous growth for Cedar. From traditional camp activities such as crafts, rocketry, and woodworking, to our evolving Digital Media and Garage Band programs, Cedar offers an opportunity for boys to pursue artistic endeavors while nestled in the woods of Maine. Whether it is building a cutting board, making a movie or learning to throw clay on our potter’s wheel, there’s a wealth of opportunity for campers to channel their creative side at Cedar.

Rocketry
Our rocketry center is the place to build some really cool, fully functional model rockets. We have rocket kits for every skill level and after building them with fins, nose cones, parachutes and engines we have regular launch days where we shoot them high into the sky!

Media
Write your own script, act it out, film it, edit it and make your own movie trailer! You can do your own sports cast in front of our green screen or put yourself into outerspace! You can film, direct or be a star in your own movie!

Nature Center
Our newly enlarged nature center offers boys a window into the wonders of the outdoors. The nature pond is teeming with tadpoles and frogs which are great fun to catch. Ten firepits allow each camper to learn the art of firebuilding and the surrounding woods are used to build emergency shelters, learn about trees and plants, set up tents and hammocks, find a variety of wild berries and even to tend our large vegetable garden.
